FAQ

Your Questions Answered

Here are some of the most common questions about our therapy sessions, tailored for young clients and their parents seeking assistance with psychological well-being.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses focused attention and relaxation to access the subconscious mind. This process can help in addressing various issues, such as anxiety, stress, and behavioral challenges in children. When we are relaxed in hypnosis the brain activates the 'default network' drawing from all regions of the brain to problem solve.

How do sessions work?

Each session typically lasts about an hour, where we focus on the positives from the week. I will talk about how our brains work in a child friendly way, so that some neuroeducation happens in each session. Next we will set a goal collaboratively and then I guide your child through relaxation techniques, just using my voice and suggest positive mental imagery to help them cope with their concerns effectively and safely.

Is hypnotherapy safe for children?

Yes, hypnotherapy is a safe and gentle approach suitable for children and adolescents. We go in and out of hypnosis naturally throughout our day, when daydreaming, exercising or even driving (us adults that is!) Children's brains are often in a state of hypnosis more frequently than adults and the power of their imagination is great!  My extensive experience as a teacher and therapist ensures a nurturing environment that helps them feel comfortable and secure.
